Massachusetts – Cynthia S. Johnson (at right, pictured with her husband
Jerome) was awarded the Secondary Business Teacher of the Year Award at
the National Business Education Association Conference, which was held
in Boston, Massachusetts, April 3-7, 2012. Honoring outstanding
educators since 1978, Mrs. Johnson is the thirty-fifth educator to win
this national award.Mrs. Johnson (MS in Instructional Design and Technology, 2003) is a secondary business teacher at Jefferson County North High School (JCNHS) in Winchester, Kansas. She has taught computer courses at JCNHS for twelve years and works with the web design and yearbook students. This award is presented annually to a secondary business teacher who made significant contributions to the field of business education by implementing creative and innovative ideas in the classroom, by involvement in department or school activities, and by participation in professional organizations. Nominations are made by a National Business Education Association member or by the executive boards of affiliated local, state, or regional associations. After winning the regional teaching award at this summer’s Mountain Plains Business Education Association Conference, Mrs. Johnson was nominated by a collegiate colleague from Nebraska. A panel of distinguished, anonymous judges evaluated each nomination packet to determine the award winner.
